“A Lost Art” the alias for Quest-Rah’s final chapter to the “Ancient Tapes” series is making a bold statement. Hip Hop has lost a lot of the fine elements which defined it in its golden era, raw beats, intoxicating melodies and fine lyricism, and Quest is on a mission to not just “bring back” these vital aspects of quality music but to take you forward with them. Quest-Rah’s sound is born out of struggle, celebration and life lessons. He blends the raw elements of Hip Hop MC’ing and production and adds an oriental twist making the final product unique from the norm.

Leading Hip-Hop review website RapReviews.com probably put it the best when they said: “Quest-Rah has a thing for piano samples, cinematic beats, Islam, and twisting tales of street drama into byzantine mythologies. Quest-Rah also proves to be a unique emcee, (his) production style is East Coast meets Middle East, with snapping snares over Arabic instrumentation. It’s a nice combination of familiar and exotic, adding a twist to the usual hip hop sound…”

Ancient Tapes Vol.2: The Lost Art is his latest offering and features UK hip hop veterans The Planets and Phoenix Da Icefire of Triple Darkness amongst others and US MC’s Ikwon (Miami) & Digital Martyrs (Bay Area) and heavy production from Ancient Arts, Ayman Raze (The Planets), J Zak, Quest himself and others. The first single “Legend of a Fighter” is a soulful summer track, an ode to the artists’ various inspirations, including a tribute to the recent uprisings across the world. The next single “Move On, Elevate” is a cinematic journey through grimy city life with Quest declaring its time to ‘Move on and elevate past the madness’. “Opium Warz” with Phoenix Da Icefire & Phonetikz will surely cater to fans of dark Wu-esque music.

In Your Mind (I.Y.M) No1 Londonboys ‘Listed People’

‘Listed People’ is the brand new debut album from UK Rap’s In Your Mind (I.Y.M) No1 Londonboys, consisting of crew members Sosa (CEO/manager), Pliaz (Rapper/Producer), Ratty (Rapper), LG (Rapper), Dreamer (Rapper) and JR6 (singer). The album features guest artist Cobane from The Colony and OEM Records as well as production from guest producers Richie Fargas aka Richie Rich and Dil from Bootylicious.

With members from South London as well as East London, this is music that the capitol city should be proud of. IYM is the brainchild of Sosa, who was looking for like-minded MC’s & producers who shared the same enthusiasm and dedication to making something out of nothing.

IYM have already played live at a number of musically crucial gigs and with a roster of experienced and lyrically mature artists, the future looks bright for this young talented outfit.

Sosa says “I feel I.Y.M as a label is now ready to showcase its vision, making music that is fresh and vital, reflecting the scene in London. This London is one that is total… music, fashion, film, entertainment!”

Sosa, the labels current producer and driving force is currently putting finishing touches to an album and mix tape which showcases what the hype is all about. I.Y.M. has a line in clothing and accessories that first started out as a way to build a media profile, a way to reach fans out in the Diaspora. This venture offers hooded tops, t-shirts (fitted and loose), jumpers, and polo shirts as well as dedicated swag for the savvy sisters out there. The line is modeled by I.Y.M. artists featured on the website. This line whilst currently sold out, new stock would be available soon via www.iymlondonboys.co.uk.
